What Is Coenzyme Q-10?
Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a vitamin-like substance that functions as an antioxidant preventing free-radical damage at the cellular level. CoQ10 is a fat-soluble vitamin-like substance present in every cell of your body. CoQ10 is critical in the production of energy within the cell. It also functions as an antioxidant which is important in its anti-aging effects.
CoQ10 Slows Aging
Some really exciting work has been reported by the Life Extension Foundation using the “bioenergetics’ aging” model. It appears that aging involves breakdown of Mitochondrial DNA causing a decline in vitality. This breakdown has been prevented in studies using CoQ10!
History, Studies and the Nobel Prize
In the mid-1970's, the Japanese perfected the technology to produce pure CoQ10 in quantities sufficient for large studies and clinical trials. As a result of one study, Peter Mitchell received the Nobel Prize in 1978 for his contribution to the understanding of biological energy transfer which includes the vital role of CoQ10 in the body’s energy systems.
In the early 1980's, there was a considerable acceleration in interest in CoQ10 and in both the number and size of clinical trials. Many of these clinical studies centered on the treatment of heart disease and were remarkably consistent in their conclusions, that treatment with CoQ10 significantly improved heart muscle function while producing no adverse effects or drug interactions.
In 1986 a prominent CoQ10 researcher, Professor Karl Folkers received the Priestly Medal and the National Medal of Science from President Bush in 1990 for his work with CoQ10. There are over 300 published papers on the disease-preventing roles of CoQ10.
Several clinical studies indicate an important role for Co Q-10 maintaining heart health, improving Brain Function, stabilizing membranes including the platelets, and supporting healthy teeth & gums.
CoEnzyme Q10 Deficiency
It is estimated that most Americans are seriously deficient in CoQ10. CoQ10 deficiency is caused by insufficient intake of the right types of food, losses in usable CoQ10 due to the commercial processing of many foods and one that affects us all, aging. This deficiency has been observed and associated in many advanced states of today’s most serious diseases and ailments.
Why Don’t More American Know
About CoQ-10?
The pharmaceutical industry does a good job at creating awareness and educating Doctors and marketing their patented prescription drugs to the public. Since CoQ10 is not patentable the drug companies have little interest educating the public or promoting or a supplement they cannot control and profit from.
Who should take CoQ10?
The highly respected Life Extension Foundation ranks Co Q-10 in their top 10 anti-aging protocols. Further most people don't get enough CoQ10 through their daily diet. Also important is research shows that natural CoQ10 production does in fact decrease as we get older.
Further concern is some health conditions may compromise the body's CoQ10 supply. CoEnzyme Q10 research has shown that cholesterol lowering drugs such as Lipitor also known as statins, can actually decrease the body's supply of CoQ10. If you are over 40 it is likely you are deficient and it may be important to supplement CoQ10 to ensure that your heart and the rest of your body have required amounts, and can reap the benefits of CoQ10. Why risk your health? We make CoQ10 affordable. Order yours now.
